Flipkart and Amazon again came face to face this festival season with Big Billion Days and Great Indian Sale respectively. And what’s the result? Who emerged as the winner?
Even though Flipkart maintained its lead over Amazon, both e-commerce retailers had huge revenue boost in these sales when compared to previous years.
Gross merchandise value of Flipkart this time is more than $1 Billion. This is almost double the GMV Flipkart got previous year. Amazon is not far away as they clocked in $800 million GMV.
Analysts say that Flipkart holds 50% market share whereas rivals Amazon got 35% market share.
How do Flipkart still lead the race against mighty Amazon? Answer might be complicated, still we can say that factors such as huge discounts, aggressive marketing, highly performing mobile app etc.
Anyway, the beneficiary of the close competition in e-commerce field is always us, the customers.
